On Sunday 29th June 11 Dinghies took part in the Hells Bells 2 Island race. 7 Sandhoppers sailed a shortened version of the course, turning back at North Doubles and missing out Northey Island.

Fortunately the wind strengthened on a very warm sunny day. All was going smoothly until the dinghies reached the causeway at Northey Island, when the wind started to shift wildly which lead to 2 Laser dinghies and a Kestrel Capsizing. The Lasers were easily righted and quickly carried on. The Kestrel however had the mast stuck in the mad and required assistance from the support boat. Their problems did not end there however as water had leaked in to their buoyancy tanks.)---:embed(1901713

The Kestrel had to be towed ashore and emptied before being towed back.

The Dinghy race was won by Martin Tarling in a Laser Radial followed by Chris Grice and Kenny Hobbs in a Kestrel, 3rd place was Vicki Riley in a Laser Radial.
