Newsletter February 2019.

Hi All,
Below is the latest news from the club.
2019 Sailing Season Programme
The 2019 programme is attached and has many opportunities to get out on the water starting on the 10th March. The programme is attached to this email as a PDF and is available online on the club website.
If you want a printed copy please print out this PDF. The club will print a limited number for those without email and to post around the club.
A big thank you to Phil Spillane for the coordinating the production of the programme, liaison with Harlow etc...
To allow members to swap duties we have invested in the Dutyman programme to organise the duties and allows members to request a swap with others.  The system will also send out reminders to those on duty.
Dutyman can be accessed via the Members login section of the website.

Safety Boat and Winch Training
As requested this will take place on the 10th March - please contact Paul Wilkinson if you wish to participate -  JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING
If you wish to do safety boat training you will need to be appropriately dressed for the conditions as you will be out on the water.

Training Days

We have programmed seven Saturday training days for basic training for both Cadets and Adults. The first is timed to be after the open day so new members can get the maximum benefit.

On Sunday 26 May we have programmed a Race Training session which is open to all but with a specific focus on those who regularly race - the best sports people spend more time training than competing!!

Race days
We are again sharing the organisation and safety cover of the dinghy and short course racing with Harlow. Maylandsea Bay will run the Spring and Winter and Harlow the Summer ad Autumn. If you have less experience, sail a slower boat and or want to gain confidence and improve then the short course could be for you, either if you are a cadet or an adult.
Keelboats should in most cases start at Maylandsea and have been programmed to be the first start. There are some cup and all in handicap races in which the keelboats are included and the results for them will also be used for series racing.
If you are a race officer or on safety boat duty you will need to liaise with Harlow sailing club so that they know the course in a timely manner before the start of each race. Harlow's phone number will be posted next to the phones.

We have included for reference the Blackwater Joint Racing Committee race days. This is the cruiser racing series that Eric, Kevin and their crew won last year. Check the BJRC website for details and start times.
Club Cruise
Last year we had a great sail to Mersea Island and back - out on the early morning tide and back in the evening. We have programmed 4 potential cruise dates as it is very weather dependant as to whether it goes ahead or not.
Work Parties
4 of these important days have been programmed - the first is the 30th March and all are welcome. Thanks also to those who have carried out work at the club over the winter.
The programme contains a number of dates for entertainment/socials and camping at the club.  The events are at Easter, the May Bank Holiday and on Saturdays following the training sessions. All members are welcome. More information will be available shortly.
