Cadet News
After a season of training days the cadets had a regatta day on Saturday in excellent sailing conditions, avoiding the strong winds from hurricane Katia.
New club members Ben and James Thame were first of the seven Picos, with two firsts and a third with Ben falling out of the boat in the second race. Lucie-Anne Longhurst with Rosie Delap came second on 4points, winning the second race of the day. Bea and Eva Delap were consistent with 3 second places and also finished on 4points finishing third on count back. We filmed some of the racing - David Trembath was the best starter and there was some interesting interpretation of the rules!!
Prizes were awarded to all who took part, and prize giving late lunch was held for cadets and parents. This year progress has been made, especially by those who were new to sailing and a number of the cadets have passed stage 1 and 2 of the training scheme.
I would like to thank parents who have assisted this year, including Katherine and Joanne who help prepare the food last Saturday.
There is still dinghy racing programmed on Sundays till the end of October - see programme

Saturday 2nd July Training Day.
Good weather and the exams getting to an end gave a good turnout to the 5th MBSC training day. Plus welcoming a number of new members joining us after Open Day.
The very light winds and warm sunshine made things a little relaxed with much capsize drill taking place.
The continued good weather on Sunday also bought out a good number to join in the dinghy race or practice.
With a good number of adult helpers around we were able to move the dinghies to enable Andrew get the grass and weeds under control ready for Maylandsea Bay Week which is fast looming with the deadline for entries at the end on next week.
